Basic VCA and B-VCA exam
The Basic VCA diploma is also known as the ‘B-VCA’. VCA stands for ‘Veiligheid, Gezondheid en Milieu, Checklist Aannemers’ (Safety, Health and Environmental Checklist for Contractors). Employees at service companies have to be VCA-certified, so that they can work more safely and thus reduce the number of accidents. As a result, more and more clients of service companies now require a VCA diploma. Both an operational manager at a contractor and a ZZP-er (freelancer/self-employed worker without employees) need to have been awarded the diploma ‘Veiligheid voor Operational Leidinggevenden’ (Safety for Operational Managers), also known as ‘VOL-VCA’.
What does the B-VCA exam consist of?
The B-VCA (Basic VCA) exam consists of 40 knowledge and test questions. If you score 2580 or more of the 4000 points (64.5%) on offer then you will have passed. The exam takes a maximum of 60 minutes. You can also opt for a reading-out exam, in which case the questions will be read out to you through the headphones provided. The time you are given is then 75 minutes. The pass mark is the same as for the B-VCA exam. For both the B-VCA exam and the B-VCA reading-out exam, you can choose from any of 19 languages.
The B-VCA diploma
The B-VCA exam consists of questions about such subjects as the legislation and regulations, the identifying of unsafe situations and work practices and the measures you must take to prevent accidents. The B-VCA diploma tells people that you can work safely and that while doing so you are taking into account not only environmental issues but also the health and safety of yourself and others.
The B-VCA exam
If you have taken the exam on a computer then you will receive your provisional score right away. You will receive your VCA diploma from us no later than three working days after taking the VCA exam. We will also tell you the score you achieved in the B-VCA exam. If an educational institution, employment agency or your employer registered you for the exam then we will send the diploma to them.
